Catholic Cemetery Chapel / Administration Complex for Archdiocese of Chicago
Gage featured as MEP engineers on Project Team at LEED Gold Certified complex
This new chapel, developed for the Archdiocese of Chicago, was designed to be a LEED-certified building. Upon completion of construction, the building was granted certification by the US Green Building Council.
The facility houses two worshiping areas, staff offices and maintenance workshops. Architectural energy saving features of the building includes a green roof, highly efficient glass and recycled building materials.
Engineering energy saving features include point-of-use water heaters, highly efficient plumbing fixtures, demand-controlled ventilation (DCV) and occupancy-sensitive lighting controls.
Palatine Public Library Palatine, IL
The Palatine Public Library is a 96,000 square-foot building located at 700 N. North Court since 1993. It is the main part of a library district serving over 90,000 patrons – primarily In Palatine and northern Hoffman Estates.
It was determined that the 2nd floor required renovations and upgrades, and in 2009 Gage Engineers began MEP/FP design for the required changes.
As with many renovations, one of the main challenges was maintaining operation while work was being completed.
